Visa and Entry Procedure

Nepal warmly welcomes tourists and makes it easy to enter. For the tourist, you can get a visa upon arrival at the Kathmandu Airport (TIA). Applying for tourist visas online is also an alternative for you. You can also fill out the standard printed forms upon your arrival too. Applying for the visa online will help to get visas quicker. For 15 days application system could hold your application. Here are the few links to apply online for the Nepalese visa. Multiple entry tourist visas are available for 90 days, 30 days and 15 days.

Visa fees are free for children under 10 years old. To apply for a visa, your passport must be valid at least six months. For your visa approval, you will need USD cash and two passport-sized photographs upon your arrival.

Tourist entry can be obtained following places or at following immigration offices:

1. Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu

2. Immigration Office, Gadda Chauki, Kanhanpur

3. Immigration Office, Kodari, Sindhupalchwok

4. Immigration Office, Mohana, Kailali

5. Immigration Office, Nepalganj, Banke

6. Immigration Office, Kakarbhitta, Jhapa

7. Immigration Office, Birganj, Parsa

8. Immigration Office, Belhia, Bhairahawa

Indian Nationals:

There is no need for a visa for Indian nationals. But Indians traveling to Nepal by air have to show there passport or voter’s card issued by the election commission of India or any identification card with photograph issued by the central or state government of India at the entry point. Children below 10 years need no or show an identification card.

Tourist Visa

Several options at the airport for visa choices:

Multiple entries → 48 hrs → 5 (USD or other acceptable currency)

Multiple entries → 15 days → 25

Multiple entries → 30 days → 40

Multiple entries → 90 days → 100

Payment is accepted by cash only.

 Transit Visa

This visa for one day and can be obtained from Nepal’s immigration offices at entry points upon the production of departure flight tickets via Tribhuvan International Airport. It will take us $5 or equivalent convertible currency.

Gratis (Free) Visa

Only for tourists of SAARC countries, Gratis Visa is available for 30 days. Indian nationals do not need a visa to enter into Nepal. Chinese nationals can apply for a free visa.

Tourist Visa Extension

Tourist Visa Extension can be only obtained from 2 places the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu and Pokhara with a fee of $2 per day (payment in rupees only). Tourists are not permitted to stay more than 150 days in Nepal in a year.

Some of the countries people do not have the approval to enter here and they are Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Liberia, Somalia, Ethiopia, Iraq, and Palestine, Afghanistan.
