Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is a rewarding hike through a less-frequented route. The route is situated at a relatively short distance from Kathmandu. Langtang Gosainkunda Trek brings you to the Langtang Valley surrounded by Himalayan Peaks. Langtang Lirung (7240 m) and Ganesh Himal are the highest peaks in this region. The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek takes you to the sacred Lake of Gosainkunda via Dhunche, the district headquarter of Rasuwa. And you ascend the Gosainkunda pass to descend into the Valley of Helambu.
It begins with a long drive by a bus to Dhunche, the main trading post of the area. From here we hike up through this beautiful alpine valley to Kyangjin, where we rest for a day for some exploration of the high mountains and glaciers. We also visit the sacred lakes of Gosainkunda, a major pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists both. We cross the Laurebina pass (4600 m.), as well as Gosainkund and descend into the dense Helambu region having diverse cultural experiences ultimately ending the trek an hour’s drive from Kathmandu.

After landing at the Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative staff who will drop you off at the hotel. You will check-in at the hotel, freshen up and take a rest. Overnight in Kathmandu.
You will explore Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa which are all world heritage sites. Durbar Square reveals the life of the royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath temple is one of the most significant places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple and Bauddhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, you are introduced to our fellow participants and discuss our trip to our office. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi by bus with sights of beautiful landscapes and snow-covered mountains road takes around eight hours. Before reach, the small and beautiful town of Syabrubensi, enjoy the rural beauty of Nepal as drive past several Nepali towns and villages. Once you reach Syabrubensi, an attractive village with large stone houses makes the feeling some exploration of the town. Stay at a lodge in Syabrubesi.
As the trek begins, pass through Bhote Koshi River and follow Langtang River. It then gradually ascends through sub-tropical forests to meet the trail from Syabru Besi climbing through isolated oak and rhododendron forests. The trail then crosses a subtropical forest. Red Panda, Langur monkey, wild boars, and various birds inhabit the forest. Gradually ascent until to New Bridge and the trail climbs up to Pairo. After an hour ascent from Pairo, you arrive at a beautiful village called Bamboo where you can find about half a dozen tea houses and vegetable gardens. Overnight in Bamboo.
The trek begins with a mild climb and steadily becomes steeper. We climb through forests of hemlocks, oaks, maples and white and pink rhododendrons high above the Langtang Khola. The trek takes you through Lama Hotel, which is a popular village among trekkers. The glimpse start appears of snow cap peaks of Langtang range. The trail leads to a log bridge, the forest and the mountains loom on either side of the valley, climbing further come across lush meadows of Ghoda Tabela. Overnight in Ghoda Tabela.
As we leave Ghoda Tabela, located above 3000-meter awards adventurers’ with breathtaking scenes of Langtang Lirung, we come across Army Checkpoint where your TIMS card and Langtang National Park permits are checked and recorded. We come across Thangshyasp from where Langtang Village can be seen. Moving on forward we cross two different villages Chyamki (3230 m.) and Gumba Village (3400 m.) before arriving at Langtang Village. Langtang Village is one of the most and biggest villages on this trek. You can hike around the valley touring the cheese factory, yak farms, pastures, and the landslide area. Overnight in Langtang Village.
The journey to Kyangji Gompa which is located at the altitude of 3830 m is a principal monastery of the region. After crossing streams, wooden bridges and moraines, finally reach the Buddhist monastery called Kyanji Gompa. The village is named after a Buddhist monastery Kyanji Gompa made up of local woods and stones. There are Buddha images and idols. On the way, the largest main wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them can be seen. At the time of exploration, a cheese factory can be visited. Langtang Lirung, Kyanji RI, Tsergo RI, Langshisha RI, Yala Peak are some mountain peaks that can be seen from Kyanji Gompa. Overnight in Kyanji Gompa.
Today, we explore Kyanji as a visit to the monastery, cheese factory, and glaciers. You can also hike to Kyanji RI or Tserko RI. From those points, we can see the breathtaking view of Langtang Valley, Langtang Lirung, and some other snow-covered mountain peaks. Tserko RI stands at an elevation of 5,033 meters and Kyanji RI stands at an altitude of 4,773 m from where you have a panoramic view of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Spend your night back to the Kyanji Gompa.
We will leave Kyanjin Gompa and follow the trail that descends to the Langtang Lirung Glacier. Our trek goes over the leveled path and along the side of the glacier. Then we will follow a climbing trail that drives us to a good campsite, also known as Langtang Lirung Base Camp.
On this day, you will trek around 5 to 6 hours to reach Upper Syabru. You will follow the same route through the scenic bamboo forest along with one beautiful river and continue trek upwards to Upper Syabru. During your trek, you will pass landslide areas of rocks and boulders and farm terraces. Nearby Syabru you will also witness one small monastery. We’ll stay overnight at the Camp.
The trails lead us through the breathtaking view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan mountain. This trail leads you through a steep forest of oak and hemlock and also through the rhododendron forest. We can see many local cheese factory and monasteries. You will have to stay overnight in a tea house.
Goisakunda is a famous place for breathtaking views that offers you spectacular views of mountains with snow peaks such as Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna, Langtang, Laubrebin and so on. You will trek through the woodland of oaks, pines and rhododendron forest and reach the magical Gosaikunda lake which is 4380 m high. This lake is a cultural significance for Nepalese which is surrounded by the mountains on all sides and Shiva shrine at the center. Every year during Janai Purnima many Hindu pilgrims visit this lake and take a holy bath in it. Overnight in Gosaikunda.
We take the last glimpse of the Gosainkunda lake before ascending down towards the Lauribina pass. The Helambu region starts at the Lauribina La pass and goes down to the Melamchi valley. We pass through many small lakes before reaching the Lauribina La pass. We enjoy the scene of the area as we pass the trails. We stay overnight in Ghote.
We will trek to Melamchi Gaon today from Ghopte. Melamchi (2,530 m) is a beautiful village settled by the Hyolmo, Sherpa and Tamang people. It lies at the heart of Helambu Valley and is one of the largest settlements in the region. We first reach Thadepati (3,490 m) during our trek. Thadepati is a mountain watcher’s paradise. We then descend gradually from Thadepati. We will enjoy a beautiful night at Melamchi.
The journey from Tharepati to TarkeGhyang is a full exploration of the Helambu region. The trail takes us to the magnificent Sherpa village of Tarke Ghyang. We can discover the monasteries and the village once we are in Tarke Ghyang. It’s a place where there is a mixture of culture and spirituality.
Sermanthang is a village that is rich in a culture full of natural wonders surrounding it. It takes about 5 hours to reach us to Sermanthang. Along the trail, we pass through many other villages that are rich in Sherpa culture. We also walk through the forest area along the trail before reaching Sermanthang for overnight stay.
We trek to the Melamchi bazaar on the final day of our trek. We trek down past many villages observing their traditional cultures. We can see the terrace farming in this area. Overnight in Melamchi Pul Bazaar.
We drive back to Kathmandu from Melamchi Pul by bus/jeep/car which takes us about four hours. You can rest from a long trek as we transfer you to the hotel. Overnight in a Hotel.
