  I was picked up this morning by my guide Prakash and the driver and we went to Nargakot hill to see sunrise and the Himalaya mountains... The drive was quick...... read more However... Even if it's early don't forget to eat something light because of the roads and the serpentines..
Despite the rainy season I was lucky to get a view of the mountains and I started to enjoy the knowledge of Prakash who could point out the different mountains and gave me some explanation.
On our way down (my first visit to Nepal) we had to stop several. Times because I wanted to get out of the car to see rice fields and just the nature. This was never a problem and Prakash an me also walked for a while and the driver picked us up later own.

We arrived early in Bhaktapur so I was also able to witness the temple chanting in the morning. Prakash guided me trough the area answering all my questions and took really good care!

Two last things:
First... Traveling as single women I want to emphazise that I felt the whole time safe and secure with Prakash and the driver.
Second... Try to get some more sleep beforee the tour than I did... I think I missed a few views on the way back because I was falling asleep (which actually also indicates for the quality of the driver...)

I also appreciated the fact, that the tour was custized to my needs and time schedule and all costs (including driver) were included, so I only needed to pay once.

As it was already my second tour with Prakash (and I think to book the same guide twice says enough), I can only repeat myself: I travelled as single woman and really appreciated his company and felt taken care of and secure in a really comforting way.

  Both parts of the trip are memorable and enjoyable; at the time of the sunrise visit, the temp was 7C, but that didn't seem to deter the groups at all.... read more The sunrise location is a short drive away from Kathmandu and your treated to a view of the hills around the city, and of you've a good seat in your vehicle you could catch some nice views of the terraced hillsides on your way to Bhaktapur. Prakash pointed out the different mountains in the distance, and also answered any questions I had while we were waiting for the sun to make its appearance.

Prakash was in his element during the second part of the journey to Bhaktapur (the entry ticket is 1500 NPR, apprx $11 USD. If you think you'll be returning to this area the following day, ask your guide to inform the ticket counter- all you'll need is your passport no). He's very knowledgeable about the different temples and sites throughout the Patan area, along with sharing the history behind temples and monasteries we stopped at.

If you've a few hours to spare, this tour - and Prakash as your guide - is definitely the one for you. Bonus - at the sunrise location, there's tea coffee, and some snacks available to help you out. Side note, a public toilet is not available at the sunrise location, but one can be found about a 5 minute drive away.
